Centre for Educational Multimedia research The Centre for Educational Multimedia is a research node within the Faculty of Education at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.

CEMM was established to investigate new technologies and new ways to teach and learn. CEMM boldly plunged into Virtual Reality and simulation research in the early 90s and now pioneers new pedagogies in 21st centrury contexts such as Web 2.0 and Web 3D.

CEMM's members draw on a vast experience of teaching and research and with the backing of Monash University, ranked within the top 40 universities in the world, have built our research centre. We feel that the most important members of CEMM are our numerous postgraduate students who continually bring new ideas and new experiences which shape the centre's research agenda.

Online teaching community for HE educators
by CEMM Admin - Tuesday, 7 April 2009, 05:49 PM

CEMM congratulates Dr Michael Henderson and Dr Anthony Fernando on the highly successful OTC website: http://cemm.educ.monash.edu.au/ocl/. The OTC site currently shares effective teaching strategies in using educational technology.

The next phase of development is to redesign the OTC to support a sustainable online community of HE educators to share best practices in using educational technologies in the renewal of their curriculum. The repository of teaching ideas will be re-usable by Australian universities in support of their localised teaching initiatives as well as encourage a global community of contributors that will situate the ideas, extend upon them and continually renew the site. The distinguishing feature of this project is the use of a community of practice approach that values deeply contextualised situated learning as a process of sustainable academic development.
